ver the past 3,000 years,
the region of Campania in southern Italy has been an ancient Greek colony, a Roman
resort area, a center of the Renaissance and home to Naples, modern Italy’s
third largest city.
Much of what the world considers “typical Italian cuisine” began in
Campania—from pizza and mozzarella to spaghetti with clam sauce, eggplant
parmigiana and delicious desserts like sfogliatelle. Naples, the capital of Campania,
produced nearly all the classic Italian songs
including Santa Lucia, Funiculì, Funiculà and Torna a Sorrento.
Now the Sons of Italy, the biggest organization in the United States for men and
women of Italian heritage, invites you to explore the traditional cuisine, ancient
cities and breath-taking
vistas of timeless Campania. Your “home” for the week is the Grand Hotel
Salerno, a
four-star hotel in centrally located Salerno. From there
you will take daily excursions to
the region’s marvels in Naples, Pompeii, Sorrento, Capri, the Amalfi coast
and Caserta.
Along with tours by your personal guide, you will have time for
shopping and sight-seeing
on your own. Breakfasts and dinners feature Campania’s unique cuisine and
wines.
Personal itineraries
for travelers who wish to extend their visit can been arranged, subject to availability
of hotels, auto rentals and airline passages.
Clubs, lodges and groups can reserve “Members-Only”
tours. However, all reservations are on a first-come, first-served basis and require
a minimum of 25 people.
