Day 1 - DEPART
Depart US via best connections for our overnight flight with dinner arriving the next day. We will be served complimentary beverages, in-flight movies, dinner and breakfast aloft.
Thursday, August 11
Day 2 - PARIS/LOURDES
We arrive in Paris and transfer to our flight to Pau. On arrival we board our motor coach to Lourdes. Time permitting, we have Mass at Lourdes. Following dinner at the hotel, we have the opportunity to join the magnificent candlelight rosary procession,
Friday, August 12
Day 3 - LOURDES
This morning we experience a walking tour, visiting Boly Mill, where St. Bernadette was born and the Cachot, formerly used as a jail, where she lived during the apparitions. On to the parish church and an orientation visit to the Shrine of Lourdes, Mass to be celebrated. The balance of the day is free for private prayer time, meditations, climbing the magnificent Stations of the Cross, reconciliation in the Chapel of the Cure de Ars, or bathing in the legendary, healing waters of the miraculous Lourdes spring. After dinner at our hotel we again have the opportunity to join the magnificent candlelight rosary procession.
Saturday, August 13
Day 4 - LOURDES/PARIS
This morning we return to Paris and tour the sites, including a visit to the most enduring symbol of Paris, the Notre Dame Cathedral. We will pass by the Arc de Triomphe, Eiffel Tower and travel down the famous Champs-Elysees. We conclude our day with a visit to the Louvre, where those wishing to stay for an evening browse may do so, seeing the Mona Lisa and Michelangelo's Pair of Slaves. Dinner on your own and overnight at our hotel.
Sunday, August 14
Day 5 – PARIS/MADRID
We depart Paris for Madrid. Time permitting; we drive by the highlights of Madrid, capital of Spain; including the Gate of Alcala, Retiro Park, the Puerta del Sol, the Royal Palace, and the famous Prado Museum. Afternoon free for individual pursuits. Dinner on your own and overnight at our hotel.
Monday, August 15
FEAST OF THE ASSUMPTION
Day 6 – MADRID
Following our hot buffet breakfast this morning we are free to explore on our own using the wonderful Madrid public transportation system, today and throughout the week This afternoon, we attend World Youth Day Opening ceremonies at ________. Return to our hotel for overnight. Meals during WYD are provided by the WYD Committee.
