Trip Details

We depart Atlanta this morning. Upon arrival, we are met by our tour manager and proceed to a restaurant near Tepeyac for a buffet lunch. We celebrate our welcome Mass at the Shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe. Here we view the original sackcloth of Juan Diego bearing the image of Our Lady of Guadalupe which hangs above the main altar. Time permitting, we visit the Church of El Pocito, the chapel in Tepeyac Hill and the gift shop near the Shrine. Dinner and overnight at our hotel.
Today, we celebrate Mass at Tulpetlac Church, the site of the 5th apparition of Mary and the site of the healing of Juan Bernadino. We proceed to the birthplace of Juan Diego in Cuautitlan. Afterwards, we journey to the Pyramids of Teotihuacan, Temple of Quetzalcoatl and other fascinating structures on this magnificent archaeological site. We also stop at a local craft shop in the Teotihuacan area for an agave demonstration and tequila tasting. Dinner and overnight at our hotel.
This morning, after breakfast, we return to the Shrine area and visit the Shrine Museum, Gardens, Chapel of the Indians and many other sacred sites. We conclude our time by celebrating Mass in Our Lady of Guadalupe Shrine. After lunch, we have time to shop at the San Juan Market and then continue to the Anthropology Museum in Chapultepec Park. Here we view its impressive collections of archaeological and anthropological artifacts from pre-Hispanic Mayan civilizations. Time permitting, we stop by the Garibaldi Square to see the Mariachi Bands before returning to the hotel for dinner and overnight.
After an early breakfast, we enjoy the wonderful floating gardens of Xochimilco in one of their traditional “trajineras” along its canals. We pass by the university city on our way to the Church of San Francisco to celebrate Mass. Afterwards, we visit the Metropolitan Cathedral and see the National Palace in Zocalo. Our journey continues to the Plaza de las Culturas, Santiago Church and Plaza de Santo Domingo. We also visit the church and convent of Santo Domingo, which houses the Rosary Chapel and the altar dedicated to Our Lady of Covadonga. Once again, dinner and overnight at our hotel.
This morning, after breakfast, we will make our way to the airport in Mexico City to begin our journey home. The incredible memories of our time in Mexico City will remain with us forever!
