Trip Details

Today we depart Atlanta to connect with our overnight flight to Tel Aviv. We enjoy in-flight movies, dinner and breakfast aloft.
We arrive at Ben Gurion Airport where we are met by our guide, who will remain with us for the duration of our pilgrimage. We transfer to our hotel along the Mediterranean for dinner and overnight.
This morning we travel north to Caesarea along the Mediterranean and visit the Roman and Crusader remains. We continue to Mt. Carmel, where we will visit the chapel and view the site of Elijah's confrontation with the priests of Baal. We continue to Nazareth and walk through the local bazaars. We then enter the Church of the Annunciation, where the Word became Flesh- we see all the depictions of the Virgin Mary from every country in the world. We celebrate Mass here. Before returning to our hotel on the shores of the Galilee for dinner and overnight, we drive to the village of Cana, the site of Jesus' first miracle, were we visit the Wedding Chapel Church.
After our traditional Israeli breakfast, we take a boat ride across the Sea of Galilee to the seaside village of Kibbutz Ginosar to view the historic archaeological discovery of “The Jesus Boat.” As we journey north, we stop at Tabgha and the Franciscan Church of St. Peter's Primacy, where Jesus made His appearance after the resurrection. On to Capernaum, where we see the remains of the village synagogue and the new church built atop St. Peter's house. We will stop at the renowned Peter’s restaurant for lunch on our own. Next, we drive to the Mount of Beatitudes, and explore the beautiful gardens, and the Benedictine Basilica of the Loaves and Fishes. Before returning to our hotel we stop at Magdala and celebrate Mass, the hometown of Mary Magdalene. Return to our hotel for dinner and overnight.
This morning we drive to Mt. Tabor, the site of the Transfiguration and celebrate Mass where the view is spectacular. Then we stop at the River Jordan, known as the site of the baptism of Christ by John the Baptist and renew our baptismal promises. We continue south through the Jordan Valley visiting Jericho for lunch and viewing the Mount of Temptation. We head south to the excavations at Qumran, the home of the Essenes, connected with John the Baptist and the Dead Sea Scrolls. Before heading for Jerusalem, we stop on the shores of the Dead Sea, the lowest place on earth. Weather permitting; we have an opportunity to swim in the salty, yet clear waters of the Dead Sea, the lowest place on earth (swim lockers not included). We then pass by the traditional site of the Inn of the Good Samaritan, as we finally make our thrilling entry into Jerusalem. Overnight and dinner at our hotel in Jerusalem.
Today after visiting the place of the Ascension and the Church of the Pater Noster, we view the beautiful City of Jerusalem from Mt. of Olives. We then walk down the hill to visit the Dominus Flevit Chapel, known as the spot, where Jesus wept over Jerusalem. We continue to the Garden of Gethsemane and the Church of All Nations, where we celebrate Mass. Then we visit Mt. Zion to visit the tomb of King David, the Church of Dormition and pray in the Upper Room. We enter the Old City through Zion Gate, making our way to the Western (Wailing) Wall, we see the Cardo and the remains of Hezekiah's wall. Return to the hotel for dinner and overnight.
This morning, we drive to Bethlehem, The House of Bread, to visit the Church of the Nativity that commemorates the birth of Christ. We visit the Manger, Crusader's Cloister, and the Grotto of St. Jerome. We celebrate our Christmas Mass here in Bethlehem. We stop at Shepherd’s Field and enter the grotto, and also visit the chapel of the Milk Grotto. We then have lunch in Bethlehem at the Franciscan restaurant. Return to Jerusalem for dinner and overnight.
We venture again into the Old City of Jerusalem via St. Stephen's Gate and visit the Church of St. Ann (Mary’s mother) and the Pool of Bethesda. We prayerfully follow the Stations of The Cross along the Via Dolorosa concluding at the Church of the Holy Sepulcher, where we celebrate Mass. We stop at Pilate’s Judgment Hall, the Chapel of Flagellation, Lithostrotos, Arch of Ecce Homo and the Convent of the Sisters of Zion. After some free time for lunch and browsing in the old city, we visit Yad Vashem, and pay homage to all those who died during WW2. Dinner and overnight at our hotel.
This morning, we drive along the Kidron Valley stopping at St. Peter in Gallicantu (The Cock Crows), where Jesus was held in the house of the High Priest Caiaphas. We then head for Abu Gosh, one of the traditional sites of Emmaus, where Jesus appeared on the road on the first Easter Sunday and celebrate Mass. Afterwards we return to our hotel and have some free time before our last dinner together, where we will toast our pilgrimage with wine. Overnight Jerusalem.
We drive to Tel Aviv airport for our flight home, with unforgettable memories to cherish always. Knowing we have walked in the footsteps of Jesus and the early Christians brings new meaning to our Scripture readings and celebration of Mass.
