Today we depart Buffalo to connect with our overnight flight to Rome aboard a wide-bodied jet. We enjoy in-flight movies, dinner, and breakfast aloft.
We arrive in Rome this morning where we meet our tour manager. We proceed to Piazza Navona in the heart of Rome to enjoy our included lunch. Afterwards, visit the Pantheon the ancient Roman Temple and since the 7th century, a Roman Catholic Church. We continue to S Maria Sopra Minerva to celebrate our opening Mass. Continue to our hotel for dinner and overnight. (L,D)
This morning, we see the treasures of the Vatican Museum and marvel at Michelangelo’s restored frescoes in the Sistine Chapel before taking lunch on our own in the Borgo area outside the Vatican walls. After lunch we will see the wonders of St. Peter’s Basilica. This afternoon, we tour Rome’s ancient sites, including a walk through the Roman Forum and returning to the coach, we pass by the Arch of Constantine, the Coliseum and the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. Finally, we continue to Terme di Colosseo for our included dinner and then return to our hotel for overnight. (B,D)
This morning, we travel north from Rome through the Umbrian countryside to Assisi, the hilltop home of Saint Francis arriving late morning. Following our included luncheon, we enjoy a walking tour of the city before continuing to our hotel for check-in and then an evening for an independent dinner and overnight. (B,L)
This morning, we celebrate Mass at the Basilica of St. Francis and then depart for our scenic drive through the Umbrian countryside to Castello di Verrazzano where we enjoy our included luncheon and wine tasting. Afterwards, we continue to the delightful spa town of Montecatini Terme whose streets invite us to stroll and enjoy the evening and dinner at our hotel. (B,L,D)
This morning, we drive to Florence where we begin at the “Piazzale Michelangelo” for a panoramic view of the spectacular city. Entering Florence, we first visit the Academia Gallery, where we view Michelangelo’s famous “David”. We then enjoy a brief walking tour of the city followed by free time for lunch on our own and time to explore the leather market, shop, or visit one of the other treasures of the city. For those who wish to visit the Uffizi Gallery, you will be instructed on how to prebook your visit in advance. We return to the hotel in Montecatini where we have the opportunity to explore the culinary delights of the city tonight, as dinner is on our own. Overnight at the hotel. (B)
This morning, we drive to delightful Vinci and enjoy a wonderful cooking class and luncheon at the famed Villa Dianella hotel, restaurant and vineyard. Afterwards, we drive northwest to the beautiful city of Genoa for our dinner and overnight. We will celebrate Mass today along the way. (B,D)
Today, we have a mini cruise with our private boat from Genoa to Portofino. We arrive into the picturesque harbor and have the afternoon to roam the color harbor village, have an independent lunch, and soak in the sun and atmosphere of this tiny coastal treasure. In the afternoon, we return to Genoa. The rest of day at our leisure for shopping or personal adventure, dinner on our own, overnight at our hotel. (B)
Following breakfast, we depart Genoa and drive north to Turin where we enjoy our included luncheon and then visit the Palazzo Reale. We celebrate Mass at the Cathedral, home of the Shroud. Dinner will be on our own this evening. (B,L)
This morning, we drive to Sacra di San Michele, an ancient medieval abbey in Val di Susa, one of the landmarks of the Piedmont region. It is also one of the most enchanting places in Italy, also known as St. Michael’s Abbey, where we celebrate Mass. We continue to one of the wonderful nearby Trattorias for our included lunch. We also stop at the Mont des Capuchins for the great view, then return to our hotel for overnight. Dinner on our own. (B,L)
This morning, following breakfast, we drive to Milan. If possible, we see the wonderful DaVinci depiction of the Last Supper. Afterwards, the afternoon is free for you to have an independent lunch, visit the Cathedral and another treasure of the city, or stroll the shopping arcade is this, the fashion capital of Italy. We meet at a local church for our closing Mass and continue to our hotel for our Farewell Dinner and overnight. (B,D)
