Trip Details

Today we depart Newark for our flight to Mexico City. Upon arrival, we are met by our Tour Manager/Guide. Depending on flight times, we stop for lunch on our own enroute to the shrine. We celebrate our welcome Mass at the Shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe. The original sackcloth of Juan Diego bearing the image of Our Lady of Guadalupe, Patroness of the Americas, hangs above the main altar and may be viewed at a closer angle on the moving walkway in the new Basilica. Time permitting, we also visit the Church of El Pocito, the chapel in Tepeyac Hill, where the first apparition took place. We conclude our day at our hotel for our “welcome” dinner and overnight.
This morning, we celebrate Mass at Tulpetlac Church, the site of the fifth apparition of Mary and site of the healing of Juan Bernadino. We then proceed to Cuautitlan, the birthplace of St. Juan Diego. Afterward, we journey to the Pyramids of Teotihuacan - “Place of the Sun and Moon,” Temple of Quetzalcoatl and other fascinating structures on this magnificent archaeological site. We break for lunch on our own at one of the local restaurants. Before returning to our hotel, we stop by a local craft shop in the Teotihuacan area for agave demonstration and tequila tasting. Return to our hotel for dinner and overnight.
Today, we return to celebrate Mass at the Shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe (preferably at one of the chapels inside the Basilica). We visit the Shrine Museum, Garden, Chapel of the Indians, and other sites in the Shrine. Following lunch on our own, we enjoy some time browsing and shopping at the exciting San Juan Market. We continue to the Anthropology Museum in Chapultepec Park, with its impressive collections of archaeological and anthropological artifacts from pre-Hispanic Mayan civilization. Time permitting, we stop by the Garibaldi Square to see the Mariachi Bands before returning to our hotel for dinner and overnight.
This morning, we enjoy the wonderful floating gardens of Xochimilco in one of their traditional “trajineras” along its canals. We pass by the university city on our way to the Church of San Francisco to celebrate Mass. After lunch on our own, we proceed to the Zocalo. We visit the Metropolitan Cathedral and see the National Palace. We continue to the Plaza de las Culturas, Santiago Church, and Plaza de Santo Domingo. We visit the Church and Convent of Santo Domingo which houses the Rosary Chapel and the altar dedicated to Our Lady of Covadonga. We drive through the Lomas and Polanco residences before returning to our hotel for dinner and overnight.
Today, following morning Mass, we leave Mexico City and travel to the colonial city of Puebla and its famous Pottery Works. We visit the Cathedral, the rosary Chapel, the Casza del Alfenique and return via Cholula, with its famous pyramid and 365 churches, one for each day of the year. Following our included luncheon, we return to Mexico City and spend the remainder of the day at leisure before dinner and overnight at our hotel.
Today, following breakfast, we transfer to the airport for our return journey home with memories of a lifetime.
