Trip Details

Today we depart JFK on our overnight flight to Rome aboard a wide-bodied jet. We enjoy in-flight movies, dinner and breakfast aloft.
We arrive in Rome this morning where we have a walking tour of the Roman Fora, the Arch of Constantine and the Coliseum. We conclude our day at one of the Catacombs, burial place of early Christians. We celebrate Mass here and view the 2nd and 3rd century fresco paintings. Continue to our hotel for dinner and overnight.
Following morning Mass at St. Peter's, we view the “Pieta” and we walk to in Santa Maria Transpontina a Carmelite Church for some prayers. Some free time for lunch on our own before we continue for a visit St. Mary Major. Rest of day at our leisure. Dinner and overnight at our hotel.
This morning, we make our way to St. Peter's for an audience with Pope Francis if he is in residence. After lunch on our own we drive south to Naples. We celebrate Mass at Santa Maria del Carmine to see the original LaBruna icon. Afterwards, we have some free time before we continue to our hotel for dinner and overnight.
This morning, we drive east from Naples on route to San Giovanni Rotondo. Our first stop will be the picturesque village of Guardia San Framondi. We will celebrate Mass at the local Basilica Parrocchiale di Santa Maria Assunta e San Filippo Neri. Afterwards, we enjoy lunch on our own and perhaps partake in a local wine tasting on our own. We continue east to Pietrelcina, a town and comune in the province of Benevento in the Campania region of southern Italy. It is the birthplace of Saint Pio of Pietrelcina, better known as Padre Pio. We continue to San Giovanni Rotondo for dinner and overnight at our hotel.
Today, we visit the new Church dedicated to Saint Padre Pio. We celebrate Mass at the tomb of the Saint. The balance of the day is free to explore the village on our own. Dinner and overnight at our hotel .
This morning, we make a short drive to Monte Sant’Angelo, where we visit the octagonal tower (campanile) of the Sanctuary of San Michele Arcangelo (St. Michael the Archangel), as well as the impressive grotto, where the Archangel appeared three times to pledge protection for the nearby town of Sipontum from pagan invaders. Following our visit, we end our day south in Bari where we visit the Basilica of St. Nicholas. We enjoy our farewell dinner and overnight at our hotel.
Today we make our way home via Rome to JFK where we arrive early this afternoon with memories of a lifetime.
